Hi, I'm Clayton

It's a pleasure to meet you.

Your friendly neighbourhood acupuncturist

Whether you want to move better, live with less pain, treat an internal medical condition or better manage your mental & emotional health, I want to help you.

I love to help people feel better and live healthier lives, it's about making the world a better place one person at a time.

Clayton Willoughby

Registered Acupunturist

I've been practicing acupuncture & IMS since 2004 - after two years of Nursing school, four years of Chinese Medicine schooling and several trips to China for additional internships & mentoring.

The number of people living with chronic pain is increasing but a lot of treatments and services are unavailable to many of them due to rising costs. This is why I continue with extensive training to provide more effective treatment options and try to keep these services at affordable costs. Over the past decades, I've studied many different ways of practicing acupuncture to not just treat pain but to improve the overall health of the body.

A Passion for Nanaimo

Working for a healthier community

Beginning in 2008, I've organised and run programs on a volunteer basis with Island Health providing free acupuncture treatment in mental health & addiction programs in Nanaimo. Over the years I've treated thousands of people with anxiety, depression, PTSD or looking to make some positive changes in their lives.

In 2009 I incorporated community acupuncture into my practice, becoming one of the first clinics in Canada dedicated to providing affordable care. The average cost (in Nanaimo) for IMS is $90 for 30 minutes or $100 for 45 minutes for acupuncture, so there's a real need for services that people can afford to access regularly.

Since returning to Nanaimo in 2006, I've donated services in support of the Haven Society, Nanaimo Women’s Resource Centre, Loaves & Fishes as well as for the Stz'uminus and Snuneymuxw First Nations and the Mid Island Métis Nation. It's important to me that everyone in our community has a chance to live healthier lives.

More Information

The little extras

This is where you're supposed to read about my hobbies and pets in a misguided appeal to make you like me, right? Well, I know that you're much too smart to fall for such obvious pandering. :-}

For the past several years I've volunteered with the provincial association for acupuncture & Chinese Medicine (ATCMA) and served on the board of directors since 2017. In this time we've expanded coverage for acupuncture through ICBC & WorksafeBC and supported our profession through the Covid-19 pandemic.

I want to support new practitioners and also connect with established ones so we can build a stronger community of healthcare providers. When we're working together everyone succeeds.
